Most of us know the iconic photo of Riley standing next to trans swimmer Lia Thomas as he towered over her at the podium of the 2022 NCAA Division Women’s Swimming Championship. Did you know that they tied, down to the hundredth of a second. And yet 1st place went to Lia Thomas for the sake of the photo op. In her new book, “Swimming Against the Current,” Riley shares not only her story, but also that of the female athletes who are now standing with her. As the preeminent voice for female athletes facing the specter of erasure from their sport, Riley delivers the clarion call to save women’s sports…and our country.
