Final WCPSS Board Meeting for the 2024-25 SY

The final WCPSS School Board meeting for the 2024-2025 School year is Tuesday, June 24. Please attend and support those providing public comment! If you cannot attend in person (5625 Dillard Dr, Cary), you may watch online.

The Work Session Agenda and Board MEETING AGENDA are posted on Friday, June 20. The work session will be discussing the 2026-27 enrollment plans, meal prices and maintenance and operations updates.

Agenda Overview:

    1. Psychologist of the year
    2. Naming of Brought HS greenhouse
  3. Public Comment A (~30 minutes)
  4. Superintendent Comments
  5. Consent Items – Items to be voted on and approved in 1 measure (policies, facilities, grants and contracts). There is at least 50 items that will be approved as they do this in advance of the new budget year.
    1. Policy 7100 adds additional verbiage about adhering to equity-based hiring practices.
    2. Powerschool contract extension
  6. Action Items – Items to be reviewed, discussed and voted on individually

Wake County Representative Promotes Violent Imagery

The Moms for Liberty North Carolina Legislative Committee, representing parents and advocates committed to safeguarding parental rights and fostering safe, respectful educational environments, urgently calls for the immediate removal of Representative Julie von Haefen from the North Carolina House Education Committee. This demand follows her deeply troubling social media post endorsing violent imagery at the “No Kings” protest in Raleigh on June 14, 2025.

Legislative Updates: Act Today

There are several bills that are currently stalled in the NC House or Senate.  Below are a few that align with the Moms for Liberty North Carolina 2025 Legislative Agenda. We encourage you to contact the bill sponsors and committee leadership to advocate for their advancement. Click on the bill hyperlink to read the bill and to see the bill’s sponsors.

HB171 - Equality in State Agencies/Prohibition on DEI

HB171 is an act to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives from state and local government. It passed the Senate Judiciary Committee last week and is currently in the Senate Rules Committee. Please contact the Senate Rules Committee to move this bill forward.

HB519 – Parent’s Medical Bill of Rights

HB519 is an act revising the law regarding when minors can give consent for medical treatment and when parents may access their child’s medical records. It passed the House and is currently in the Senate Rules Committee. It is not currently on the published agenda.

Protecting Women Library Content

HB636 – Promoting Wholesome Content for Students. 

HB636 is an act to ensure that content harmful to minors is not made available in schools. It also establishes a cause of action for parents. It passed the House and but has not made any movement in the Senate.

HB805 – Protect Sexual Exploitation of Women and Minors.

HB805 recognizes two sexes and allows religious objections from certain classroom activities. It also gives parent access to school library content.

HB805 has some great content but is not a replacement for HB636.  HB805 will be on the Senate Floor Monday.  Please contact your NC Senator and the bill sponsors in support of this bill.  Also ask for them to move forward with HB636 to protect children from sexualized content in school libraries.

SB227 – Eliminating DEI in Public Education

S227 is an act to align with President Trump’s January 2025 executive order regarding DEI initiatives. The act will prohibit public K‑12 schools from endorsing or promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. It passed the Senate and is scheduled to be on the House Judiciary 1 Committee on Tuesday at 9am.

We continue to celebrate 100 years of the landmark supreme court ruling in Pierce vs. Society of Sisters which affirmed parents’ fundamental rights to direct their child’s education.

You can make a difference!

  1. Sign the PARENT PLEDGE (parent/ community member) to show your support for parental rights.
  2. Ask your candidates and elected officials to sign the PARENT PLEDGE (candidate/ elected official) to show their support for parental rights.
  3. Contact the WCPSS School Board to adopt the Parental Rights Resolution that will be given to them at the WCPSS Board meeting June 5th.

Chapter Membership 

Moms for Liberty is committed to safeguarding America by uniting, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government. We are a grassroots nonprofit organization of Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and Community Members.

We have made an impact, but we need your help.  Volunteer and join today! There are two types of membership.

  • Voting Chapter Membership
    • Membership runs for the calendar year (2025)
    • Dues are $30
    • By joining at this level, you can help fund our local outreach events during the year.
    • Voting members may vote on chapter issues such as endorsements, important issues, and serve on the executive board
  • Associate Chapter Membership 
    • Membership is perpetual
    • Dues are $0
    • Participate in local outreach events, provide feedback on issues, stay in the know on current issues
