Legislative Updates

There are several bills that are currently stalled in the NC House or Senate.  Below are a few that align with the Moms for Liberty North Carolina 2025 Legislative Agenda.

We encourage you to contact the bill sponsors and committee leadership to advocate for their advancement. Click on the bill hyperlink to read the bill and to see the bill’s sponsors.

HB171 - Equality in State Agencies/Prohibition on DEI

HB171 is an act to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives from state and local government. It passed the House and is currently in the Senate Judiciary Committee. It is not currently on the published agenda.

HB519 – Parent’s Medical Bill of Rights

HB519 is an act revising the law regarding when minors can give consent for medical treatment and when parents may access their child’s medical records. It passed the House and is currently in the Senate Rules Committee. It is not currently on the published agenda.

HB636 – Promoting Wholesome Content for Students

HB636 is an act to ensure that content harmful to minors is not made available in schools. It also establishes a cause of action for parents. It passed the House and is currently in the Senate Rules Committee. It is not currently on the published agenda.

HB832 – Education Omnibus

HB832 is an act to update several educational laws. It passed the House and is currently in the Senate Rules Committee. It is on the agenda for June 17th.

SB227 – Eliminating DEI in Public Education

S227 is an act to align with President Trump’s January 2025 executive order regarding DEI initiatives. The act will prohibit public K‑12 schools from endorsing or promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. It passed the Senate and is currently in the House Rules Committee.

S55 – Student Use of Wireless Communication Devices

SB55 is an act to require regulation of student use of wireless communication devices during instructional time. It passed the Senate and is currently in the House Rules Committee.

NC Rep. Endorses Violent Imagery

The Moms for Liberty North Carolina Legislative Committee, representing parents and advocates committed to safeguarding parental rights and fostering safe, respectful educational environments, urgently calls for the immediate removal of Representative Julie von Haefen from the North Carolina House Education Committee. This demand follows her deeply troubling social media post endorsing violent imagery at the “No Kings” protest in Raleigh on June 14, 2025.

Chapter Membership 

Moms for Liberty is committed to safeguarding America by uniting, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government. We are a grassroots nonprofit organization of Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and Community Members.

We have made an impact, but we need your help.  Volunteer and join today! There are two types of membership.

  • Voting Chapter Membership
    • Membership runs for the calendar year (2025)
    • Dues are $30
    • By joining at this level, you can help fund our local outreach events during the year.
    • Voting members may vote on chapter issues such as endorsements, important issues, and serve on the executive board
  • Associate Chapter Membership 
    • Membership is perpetual
    • Dues are $0
    • Participate in local outreach events, provide feedback on issues, stay in the know on current issues
