At Moms for Liberty we have three Values: 1. Stand for Truth 2. Build Relationships 3. Empower Others And Shannon Ciecko, our Wayne County, MI Chapter Chair has excelled in the craft of Empowering others. Shannon never planned on becoming a chapter chair. She was pursuing her graduate degree with dreams of becoming a midwife, but something pulled her to fight that she could not ignore. Now looking back, her 20 years in home healthcare prepared her for what she is doing now at Moms for Liberty. Shannon stepped in the role as chapter chair in 2021. Due to her nursing background, parents began coming to her for help and wanting her to speak at meetings. She soon realized her role wasn’t to be the voice at every meeting; her role it was to empower other parents to find theirs. Wayne County has dozens of school districts, and it is impossible for Shannon to be at them all, so she works to develop district leaders to lead and equip all parents with the tools they need to advocate for their children.
