BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Moms for Liberty Bay County hosted a school board candidate forum, allowing voters to have the opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking seats on the Bay District School Board.
Candidates discussed topics including the district’s budget, student enrollment, school safety, and transparency.
This year’s election features two contested races. Two candidates are running for the District Two seat, and four candidates are running for the District Three seat.
Michelle Brown, chapter chair of Moms for Liberty Bay County, said the outcome of the election will have a direct impact on public education in the county.
“We are counting on the school board for policy for budget — all of that, and if we don’t have a good school board, then we’re not going to have good education for our children,” Brown said. “People are going to continually take their children out of public schools, so we need to vote, we need to make it count.”
