Moms for Liberty Labeled ‘Hate Group’ in Statewide Massachusetts Police Training
Moms for Liberty, a nationwide parental rights advocacy nonprofit, has been designated as a hate group in a Massachusetts police training, placing the organization in the same category as groups like Antifa.
The Massachusetts Municipal Training Committee sets training standards and policy guidelines for law enforcement across the state, and in its recent training, it called out the conservative parents group. Covering 20,000 officers, the training said Moms for Liberty’s “members use parents’ rights as a vehicle to attack public education and make schools less welcoming for minority and LGBTQ+ students.”
Earlier this year, a House resolution introduced by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R., Ga.) sought to designate Antifa as a domestic terrorism organization and classify its actions as domestic terrorism. The MTCP placed this group in the same category as the conservative parental advocacy organization.
MTCP compiled the training presentation, titled “Freedom and Hate: Speech, Crimes & Groups” in conjunction with organizations such as the Southern Poverty Law Center. SPLC had published a long profile on Moms for Liberty claiming the group “commonly propagates conspiracy theories about public schools attempting to indoctrinate and sexualize children with a progressive Marxist curriculum.” Moms for Liberty acquired the MTCP training materials via a Freedom of Information Act request.
The organization has recently been a part of ongoing debates surrounding biological men participating in women’s sports. The group filed a federal lawsuit in Kansas attempting to block any protections put in place for transgender-identifying students at schools where children of Moms for Liberty members attend. In Massachusetts, for example, 19 school districts fell into that category.
This designation comes out amidst the ongoing legal battles. However, President Donald Trump’s executive order reversed the Biden-era Title IX changes, one of the concerns of the group.
“The truth is our members are under threats…constantly,” Moms for Liberty co-founder Tina Descovich said in a post on X. “The Massachusetts Police Training Committee needs to remove @Moms4Liberty in their ‘hate’ training NOW and apologize to our moms across their state that are working to make education better, make schools better and make America better.”
