Moms for Liberty's Emily Jones launches campaign for State Board of Education
Emily Jones has officially launched her campaign to represent District 8 on the State Board of Education.
Jones announced her bid Wednesday night at an event in Huntsville.
"I'm excited to announce that I'm running for State School Board, District 8," she said. "As a single mom with a child in the public school system, I feel led to take on this challenge to improve our schools, protect our parental rights, and protect the innocence of our children."
Jones is perhaps best known for establishing and chairing the first Moms for Liberty chapter in Alabama and for being outspoken for parental rights in schools on various issues, including Title IX and boys participating in girls' sports.

"The political landscape has changed drastically over the past few years. The expectation of grassroots conservatives is bold and effective leadership. I feel my time leading Moms for Liberty has sharpened those skills and equipped me with the knowledge needed for this new endeavor," she told 1819 News.
Jones grew up in Jackson County and attended Pisgah High School. She earned her undergraduate degree in accounting at Jacksonville State and has worked in finance for nearly 20 years.
Wayne Reynolds currently holds the seat for District 8, which encompasses Madison, Jackson and Etowah Counties and parts of Limestone and DeKalb Counties.
Reynolds took office in 2019 after Mary Scott Hunter chose to run for State Senate. He won re-election in 2022 and announced his decision to run again in 2026 last March.
