Radio City

Hello,

There are bills in the NC House committees this week that affect our kids and families.  Also, save the date May 14 for our next chapter meeting. And looking further ahead, we will have our annual chapter meeting in September.  If you are interested in serving on our chapter board, please reach out to me at [email protected].

In Liberty,

Becky

Parents Medical Bill of Rights

While there are several bills on the agenda of the House Judiciary 2 Committee, the Parents Medical Bill of Rights corrects current NC statute that interferes with Parental Rights and the medical care of their children.

Current Statute (GS 90-21.5) allows minors to get treatment for substance abuse, pregnancy, emotional disturbance or venereal diseases WITHOUT parental consent or knowledge.

In fact, if your child is being treated for any of these, doctors WILL WITHHOLD these records from you about your child. I know as this has affected my family directly. Please call or email the committee members about this issue.

The House Judiciary 2 Committee is meeting Tuesday at 1pm in the Legislative Office Building in Room 421. You can sign up to receive committee updates and see the list of committee members HERE. If you can attend, please wear your Moms for Liberty gear.

House Committee Meeting, K-12 Education

This committee focuses on education matters in grades K-12. This committee is meeting on Tuesday at 2pm in room 643 (same building as the Judiciary Committee). You can sign up to receive committee updates and see the list of committee members HERE.

Currently, the following bills are on the agenda for the meeting on April 29. Many of these are of interest regarding issues important to Moms for Liberty members in NC.

Other Legislative Information

Last week, House Bill 636 passed the NC House and is now with the Senate. This bill establishes procedures to ensure that content harmful to minors is not available to them in schools. You can track the progress of this bill HERE. As we get information regarding committee assignments, we will send out calls to action.  This bill will help reduce the inappropriate materials available in many WCPSS libraries.
