Description
Join us Tuesday, Oct 1st as we discuss book challenges, what we learned at the Family Life curriculum review, how you can be involved in the upcoming Science curriculum selection, and more!
Family Life curriculum explores issues such as becoming sexually active, consent and non-consent, HIV and STDs, setting boundaries, how students can identify a "trusted adult", and other sensitive topics.
Attend the October 1st chapter meeting as we discuss the pros and the cons of the Family Life material that students encounter from elementary school through high school and learn what action you can take to provide feedback to the school system as they refine the curriculum.
You can have a positive impact on your children, the schools, and the community by taking an active part in this discussion.
The Science curriculum selection process was discussed at the Sept school board work session. (start at 1:01:50)
The state board is expected to provide the districts with a select list of approved material in November. The districts then must make the material available for public review and provide the opportunity for public input.
The Williamson County School system plans to make the Science curriculum available for public review in January and February.
We will keep you updated on this process and will provide the dates, times, and location where you can review the curriculum and provide input, as soon as we have the details.
