Joey Brite, a trailblazer of the American feminist movement, came out as a lesbian at 16 in 1971, embracing her gender-nonconforming identity as the rebellious daughter of an immigrant Latina mother. Inspired by cinema and photo-format magazines like Life and Look, she picked up a camera at 12, documenting daily life, art, and politics. Brite's passion for community organizing and event production flourished in the vibrant lesbian community of the 1970s, which later faced challenges from Big Pharma and gender ideology.
In 2021, driven by the alarming agenda to disconnect youth from their natural bodies, Brite spearheaded nationwide protests at gender clinics. In 2022, she collaborated with a concerned mother on a documentary exposing the medical scandal affecting young detransitioners, leading to the creation of Affirmation Generation, later renamed No Way Back.
