State Rep. Joe D’Orsie is in his second term of service to constituents in the 47th
Legislative District in York County, which includes Conewago, Manchester, East
Manchester and Hellam townships; the boroughs of Hallam, Manchester, Mount Wolf
and Wrightsville; and the northern tier of Springettsbury Township.
He serves on the following House Committees: Commerce; Communications and
Technology; Education, where he is the Republican chairman for the Subcommittee on
Special Education; and Labor and Industry.
Joe grew up in Dallastown and after graduating he went on to study at Duquesne
University in Pittsburgh. While at Duquesne, Joe competed at the Division 1 level in
both football and wrestling for the Dukes and won conference championships in both
sports. He also co-hosted a weekly sports talk radio show on WDSR and did TV color
commentary for local high school football games. He graduated in 2008 with a degree in
Public Relations.
After graduating, he served for a stint as a missionary in the Dominican Republic with
YWAM and then soon after began a decade-long career in the field of communications.
He lives in Mount Wolf with his wife of 11 years and two kids. Joe’s father served our
country in the United States Marine Corps as an officer, rising to the rank of Major in his
tenure with the 2nd Marine Air Wing (active) and reserves. Joe’s mother was a long-
time educator in the Dallastown Area School District.
Joe loves history, specifically about our nation’s founding and the Civil War era. He’s an
avid reader and, when he’s not reading the Bible, is likely working on an American
history book.
Joe also loves to write, and when he’s not active in the district or fighting for the
interests of his constituents in Harrisburg, you’re likely to see his articles published
locally and nationally. Last term, Joe’s works appeared in publications such as The
National Review, Washington Examiner, The Daily Caller, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and
Real Clear Politics, among others. He’s also been invited onto national and regional
news programs, like Fox & Friends, The Dom Giordano Program, and CBS 21’s “Face
the State.”
He enjoys the outdoors and is happy hiking, exploring, and hunting in the beautiful
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
