Hello Joyful Warriors,
Our last meeting with Sheriff Tommy Ford, Corporal Amy Burnett and Captain Myron Guilford was so informative. We had 37 people at the meeting, so far the largest ever! Let’s see if we cant exceed that number and invite friends and family to join!
FL Legislative Session ended last Friday and unfortunately, the Senate and House pushed through the terrible bill HB1285. It did remove the $100 per challenged book fees. However, anyone who does not have a children attending school in the district can only challenge 1 book per month. Once DeSantis signs this, it will go into effect July 1, 2024. Karen Custer who is now the Lead on the Book Challenge Committee, is aware and will be working moving forward with the book reviews. She checking to see if we can start submitting challenges now or if we have to wait until the 30 days advertising period. We will keep you updated.
This morning the Governor came to a settlement regarding the Parental Rights Bill. And from what our M4L FL Legislative Team has gathered, it looks like any gender ideology talk or information is only from K-3. And any discussion can be done as long as it is not part of the curriculum or lesson plan. I am linking the settlement here for you to read for yourself.
