A Letter from Our Interim Chapter President, Karen Fulton
Karen FultonSadly, Julie Bywater has needed to step down as chapter chair of the Moms for Liberty Brevard Chapter. She has not gone far, and luckily for us we will still get to rub shoulders with her here in Brevard. We wish her all the best as she starts new endeavors and look forward to future work with her here in Brevard. Thank you Julie for all you did for the chapter and Moms for Liberty in general.

My name is Karen Fulton and I have agreed to be the interim chapter chair until we can hold a vote. I look forward to the future of the Brevard chapter. We have so much history in this organization and I know we can do exciting things here. I believe in the mission of Moms for Liberty and I am grateful for the fine people I have been able to get to know in my work with the organization.

I have lived in Brevard for 15 years. Prior to that I taught special education at all grade levels. I especially loved teaching on the high school level. I love eduction and I have always been interested in the process. My goal is to better our community by being involved with Brevard Public Schools. Personally I have a daughter, her husband, a son, his fiancé, and three grandchildren. They do not live in the area, so I hope someone is working to better their way of life where they live.

Thank you all for joining me on this journey. Let’s work together to make Brevard better and have a little fun along the way.

24 Traditional BPS Schools Earn
"School of Excellence" Designation

The State Board of Education has recognized Brevard Public Schools’ outstanding educational performance, designating 24 traditional BPS schools and two charter schools as "Schools of Excellence."

A school is honored with the title of School of Excellence only if it has consistently earned a high percentage of possible points in its school grade calculation, placing it in the 80th percentile or higher for schools of the same grade groupings (elementary, middle, high, and combination) for at least two of the last three school years. In 2022-2023, 783 schools were designated as a School of Excellence in Florida.
