Radio City

Hello,

We had a great crowd at the last school board meeting.  Having supporters in the audience makes a big difference.  Please come to support those who will be speaking Tuesday, August 6. And if you have not seen it yet, watch Cheryll Caulfield's opening remarks.

Also, save the date for our chapter meeting with WCPSS School Board Candidates on August 14. Bring school supplies and hear from the candidates.

Lastly, Julie and I will be going to Moms for Liberty National Summit soon. Summit offers training and resources that we bring back to the chapter. If you can donate to help defray our travel costs, we would greatly appreciate it. You can donate via CashApp ( $M4LWakeNC) or via our Donation Link for the chapter. Just put a note that this is for Summit Expenses.

WCPSS Board Meeting Tuesday, August 6th

Thank you to everyone who attended the July 16th WCPSS board meeting. Your presence makes a huge difference. Let’s keep the momentum going.

We must continue to hold the WCPSS board accountable. There is still a lot to say about WCPSS passage of Title IX changes via policies 1710/4021/7230 and 1720/4015/7225 at the July 16th meeting.  These policies were approved at the board meeting but have not been added to the online policy manual.

The next work session and board meeting will be Tuesday, August 6 and the next one will be August 20.

The work session agenda has been posted and may be reviewed <<HERE>>.  Although there are several topics, transportation is one of the items and has been an issue for many WCPSS families.

The main meeting agenda is posted << HERE>>.

  • Consent Items – These are Items to be voted on and approved in 1 measure.
    • Technology – VOIP agreement (contract thru 2029) Annual cost $1.1M
    • Oracle (HR) - ~$219K
    • Grants – There are many grants. One is from US DoE $15M
  • Action Items – These items are discussed individually and may or may not be voted on for approval.
    • Salary schedule
    • Policies – These are 1st reading so are not final approval
      • 3460 - Graduation requirements
      • 4240 – Child abuse – It adds showing a video to 6-12 grade produced by the Center for Safer schools. There are not parameters defining content and given the nature of Title IX currently, there could be issues.
      • 7510 – Leave
    • Policies – These are on the final reading, before approval.
      • 2310 – Public Comment – 2nd reading
      • 2340 – Parliamentary procedure –Changes order of meeting, putting public comment before board comments.

If you would like to SIGN UP FOR PUBLIC COMMENT, sign up on the day of the meeting from 11:30am-4pm (online only).  The link will be on the page when sign up is available.

Title IX Rule Changes - How to Protect Your Child

Any school that receives Federal funding must implement these changes the Title IX rulle changes, unless the school is attended by a child of a member of Moms for Liberty.

Per the court injunction, schools attended by the children of the members of Moms for Liberty are prohibited from enacting the Biden Administration changes.

On July 31, more schools were added, protecting more kids from the ruling changes to Title IX.  To date 62 WCPSS schools are protected. Continue to encourage your friends to join and protect their children too.

There are many resources on Moms for Liberty Title IX Resources page, so check it out. This page includes links to the court rulings, links to other cases regarding Title IX, videos, new articles and more.  Here are a few highlights:
