Gov. Abbott Wants To Know Why A Local HS Secretly Transitioned A Student
Just when you thought parental rights had been restored in Texas public schools, Governor Greg Abbott is ordering the (TEA) to investigate an incident of alleged 'social transitioning' of a student at Bellaire High School.
"In this case, the school had been using a different name and different pronouns for this child without the parents knowledge or consent" said Denise Bell, Harris County Chair for the group 'Mom's For Liberty'.
She recently spoke on behalf of that student at an HISD board meeting, but her mic was abruptly cut-off before she could even finish.
"As I did share in my public comments, this child had written their given name on a paper, and a teacher had actually crossed it out red ink and written a different name" Bell told KTRH.
And while Texas has come a long way in separating indoctrination from education, there are currently no laws in place prohibiting Texas teachers from calling students by their 'preferred' names or pronouns.
"We know that this is a problem based on the policies that schools have" noted Bell, "I think legislatively steps need to be taken."
Governor Abbott agrees, posting on X: “No school should be involved in ‘transitioning’ a child. If this is not already illegal, it will be after this session."
There are 3 bills that Mom's For Liberty are keeping their eyes on. HB 1665, HB 976, and HB 2258, which Bell says would be a good start in removing gender ideology from Texas schools.
