Madison Moms for Liberty chair blasts Biden DOJ for tracking group along with KKK
Moms for Liberty's political efforts fighting for parental rights have reportedly landed the organization on a watch list at the U.S. Department of Justice.
According to a recent report by The Daily Wire, the DOJ's Community Relations Service has been tracking Moms for Liberty along with other "hate groups," like the Ku Klux Klan, and symbols such as the noose, swastika and the Confederate flag.
The Daily Wire obtained DOJ documents, including emails from "Conciliation Specialist" Hannah Levine, after America First Legal filed a lawsuit on the media company's behalf.
"They show the Community Relations Service, which says its role is 'preventing and responding to community tensions and hate crimes, bias, bullying, and discrimination,' tracked targets like Moms for Liberty through Google and LexisNexis alerts," The Daily Wire reported.
Moms for Liberty was included in a list of search terms such as "hate speech," "n-word," "sexism" and "homophobi*."
"[The DOJ] appears to have used its tracking of Moms for Liberty to identify school boards considering enacting conservative-leaning education policy. It then pressured school boards to defer to the DOJ to resolve the differences of opinion between duly-elected conservative officials and leftist activists, instead of enacting platforms they won elections on," according to The Daily Wire's report.
Emily Jones, the founder and chapter chair of Moms for Liberty in Madison County, has been at the forefront of the political fight to remove sexually explicit books from Alabama libraries. She told 1819 News that she would not be intimidated by the DOJ and rejected the label of "hate group."
"It's a really sad day for our country when our government sets their sights on moms performing their natural role of protecting their children," Jones said. "Moms and dads fighting to preserve their parental rights is not controversial or a partisan position. It's a job that God blessed us with, and we take that responsibility to heart."
Moms for Liberty was also included in the Southern Poverty Law Center's (SPLC) "The Year in Hate and Extremism Comes to Main Street" annual report for 2022.
