Current representative of and gubernatorial candidate for South Carolina, Nancy Mace, attended the Moms for Liberty parental rights event in Horry County Thursday.

The group describes itself as "a nationwide movement dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating, and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government."

Mace said she spent the day handing out constitutions at a grade school before attending the event and holding a meet and greet with supporters.

She also spoke to reporters about the upcoming gubernatorial elections and some of her policy stances.

Mace spoke positively about leading current polls in Horry County.

"Horry County makes presidents. Horry County elected Donald Trump, and they're a big part of the state," Mace said. "We're winning by double digits everywhere, but particularly with folks who support the president."

She said there were many issues she would focus on should she be elected as governor.

Energy infrastructure, education, immigration, the economy, and crime were some of her primary focuses for bettering South Carolina.

Ultimately, Mace said, "This is a five-person race, and may the best woman win."
