A Tallahassee woman was thanked and applauded by President Donald Trump and GOP members of Congress Tuesday night for being a "courageous advocate" for parental rights.

January Littlejohn sat two seats down from First Lady Melania Trump who had invited her and 14 others to attend the president's joint address to Congress, to represent what President Trump calls the "disaster" faced under the Biden administration, referring to a multitude of issues that occurred within the Biden administration.

Littlejohn is a stay-at-home mom, a licensed mental health counselor and a parents' advocate. She often is associated with Moms for Liberty, the conservative organization that advocates for parental rights.

Littlejohn sued the Leon County School Board in 2021 for allegedly assisting the social transitioning of her 13-year-old daughter without Littlejohn's consent. Social transitioning is when someone adopts a gender different from what they are assigned at birth and begin changing their name, pronouns or appearance.

Trump called it a "form of child abuse.""Stories like this are why I signed an executive order banning public schools from indoctrinating our children with transgender ideology," Trump said as he introduced Littlejohn to the national stage more than an hour into his national address.
