Dueling groups

Just as liberal groups are sending “banned” books to libraries, Moms for Liberty has been raising money to send books that cohere to its philosophy to libraries.

According to the liberal group Media Matters, “The Moms for Liberty Foundation ran a special campaign in late July as part of its ‘Moms for Libraries’ initiative to place conservative propaganda in school libraries and classrooms.”

Among the books is former conservative talk host Glenn Beck’s new book, “Chasing Embers,” which is described as a fictional world just as exciting as the one in the “Harry Potter” books, but powered by our history instead of witchcraft. The book is the first in a six-book series, according to the group “Moms for Libraries.”

Media Matters writes that the Moms for Libraries campaign works with right-wing authors and organizations that are “producing blatant conservative propaganda in the form of children’s books. For example, the organization partners with Tuttle Twins, a children’s entertainment company that produces libertarian propaganda in an effort to protect the youth from ‘socialism and woke-ism.’

“Another Moms for Libraries partner, Heroes of Liberty, sells an illustrated series that introduces children to the stories of ‘great people’ like right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh.”

Moms for Libraries says at its website that it “works to place books that teach civics, history and American values in school libraries to benefit present and future generations.”
